Lynbrook is a village near the South Shore of Long Island in the Town of Hempstead in Nassau County, New York. The community is served by the East Rockaway, Hewlett, Lynbrook, Malverne and Valley Stream School Districts. Lynbrook was formerly known by several names, including Near Rockaway, Parson’s Corners and Bloomfield. The community was known as Pearsall’s Corner for a while, after Mr. Pearsall’s General Store which became a famous stagecoach stop from travelers out of New York City. The name Lynbrook was adopted in 1894, which is a transposed version of the name Brooklyn. Three homes in Lynbrook are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
